I left Portland at around 9am and decided to take the scenic route along US 1 to see some of the sights along the coast. I have a route in a guidebook which apparently allows for a trip of over 300 miles up and down all the wiggly bits of the coastline but I didn’t fancy quite that long in the car.
Along the way I passed through Falmouth, Cumberland, Yarmouth, Bath, Newcastle, Bristol, Camden and Belfast – in that order!
As promised I’m getting back to the travel writing with some words (and lots of pictures) about my recent trip to New England. I spent a week split between Portland and Mount Desert Island with stops in the White Mountains and Vermont on the way back so I’m going to split up posts by location to prevent them getting too long.
